Rit Dye works best on washable fabrics such as Cotton, Linen, Wool, Rayon, Ramie, Nylon, and Silk. This is why Rit Dye is so awesome: it is super versatile and works on a plethora of fabrics and any blend of the above fabrics, as well. However, you should keep in mind that it is not suitable for fabrics with special surface treatments such as Polyester, Acrylic, Acetate, or any other fabrics with special finishes. Additionally, you should not use Rit Dye on items that can be washed in cold water only, or have a “Dry Clean Only” tag. When in doubt, Rit recommends that you test dye a swatch of your fabric before you dye the entire thing. There are two Rit Liquid Dye Prize Packs: one in aquamarine (see scarf below), and one in navy blue (see carpet below). Each comes with its own bottle of Dye Fixative, too! Rit Dye Fixative is designed to reduce color bleeding in fabrics, so you should use it after you finish dying your items in order to keep them looking bright and beautiful.
