Have you ever wondered about the origins of the Bohemian movement and Bohemian style in general? Prior to the revolution of 1789, the fine arts, particularly painting and engraving, were considered to be mere trades. Thus, an artist found himself somewhere between the upper-domestic and the lower-civil servant. To succeed he needed a patron, a wealthy upper-class man or woman. However, this meant he was not free to choose the subject of his art. As a result, a campaign was begun around 1750 by prominent artists to improve the education and morale of the artists, in order to give the 'trade' some of the respectability due to a 'profession.'

The Bohemian lifestyle many people currently enjoy can largely be attributed to writers such as Balzac and Hugo who made the artist lifestyle what is commonly thought of today. With them began the Romantic Movement, a true youth movement of its day. It was in the 1820s when the artist profession became accepted, if somewhat eccentric. Victor Hugo's Romantic Army became the basis of the Bohemians. Although by the end of the 1800s, Bohemianism in Paris was coming to an end, there have been Bohemian movements throughout the 20th century, from the beats of the 1950s to the hippies of the 1960s. These groups owe inspiration to the original Parisian "vie Boheme."

So, with this Breathtaking Bohemian Outdoor Wedding Altar, you can carry on the tradition of the writers, painters, poets, and sculptors who came before you and celebrate the freedom that comes with the ability to express yourself and your creativity without reservation. Who knew a unique wedding ceremony idea could trace its roots to such a storied past?
