If you're holding an outdoor wedding with a rustic or vintage theme, you cannot say "I Do" without stunning Suspended Mason Jar Vases overhead. This incredibly easy and inexpensive DIY wedding craft will make all the difference in your ceremony decor. Match the flowers to your wedding colors for a cohesive feel. Each vase requires only a few blooms, keeping costs down even more.

Materials:

  • Flowers
  • Ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Glue gun (optional)
  • Rope
  • Mason jar and lid
  • Water

Instructions:

1. Fill mason jar about half full with water.

2. Cut a ribbon about three feet long (the length may vary depending on how long you want your vase to hang).

3. On each end of the ribbon, mark a point about two inches in from the end. Put a dot of glue at both points, and place against the outer rim of the jar. The two glued points should be directly across from one another (a perfect 180 degrees). The glue simply ensures that the ribbon will stay put, but you can also simply use the lid to do this.

4. Place lid on the mason jar without the insert. The lid should be placed over the ribbon so that the ribbon is screwed in in between the outer rim of the mason jar and the lid. About two inches of ribbon should hang on the ouside of the jar on each side (as seen in picture). The rest of the ribbon should be available to use as a way to hang the vase.

5. Place flowers in lid opening until it looks full. Adding different flowers and fillers, like baby's breath, creates variety.

4. Your vase is now ready to be hung. Take a piece of rope (the length will depend on the circumfrence of the branch from which you're hanging the vase; make sure you have enough rope to go all the way around the branch and then to tie a knot), and put it around the branch and under the middle section of the ribbon. Tie a knot in the rope once the vase is secure.

This makes such a lovely bouquet and it looks great hanging anywhere in your patio or as the wedding reception or bridal shower decor. I could see entwining some tiny LED rice solar lights inside or on the hanging part for some extra sparkle, or even some glow sticks for some more informal fun! Thanks for the lovely and fun idea! Super!
