Susan Bates® Crochet Hook: 1.75mm [0 steel]
1 3x3” (8x8 cm) gift box, 1/4” (3 mm) wide satin ribbon, yarn needle

Flower

Petals
Round 1 (Right Side): Ch 2, work 10 sc in 2nd ch from hook; join with slip st in first sc, tighten beginning tail to close center – 10 sc.
Round 2: Ch 1, (sc, ch 5, sc, ch 1) in first st, [skip next st, (sc, ch 5, sc, ch 1) in next st] 4 times; join with slip st in first st – 5 petals.
Round 3: Ch 1, [(sc, hdc, 4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc, hdc, sc) in next ch-5 space] 5 times; join with slip st in first st. Fasten off.

Flower Center
Round 1 (Right Side): Ch 2, [sc, ch 3] 5 times in 2nd ch from hook; join with slip st in first st to create mini flower shape, tighten beginning tail to close center – 5 sc, 5 ch-3 spaces.
Round 2: [Ch 2, (dc, tr, ch 1, tr, dc) in next ch-3 space, ch 2, slip st in next sc] 5 times – 5 petals. Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.

Finishing
Using photo as a guide, sew Flower Center to Flower Petal, leaving tails to attach piece to box. Weave in remaining ends. Wrap box lid with ribbon as desired. Poke small holes in lid. Thread tails through holes and tie Flower Trim securely to lid. Flower Trim may also be tied or sewn to ribbon, if desired.

Flower is crocheted in 2 parts, then sewn together and tied to lid of gift box.

GAUGE: Flower Center measures approximately 1” (2.5cm) across. Gauge is not critical to this project.
