My friend made one of these to carry at her wedding. She had a collection of antique brooches from her grandmother and the final product was quite stunning. It was fairly weighty, but she brought a small throwaway flower bouquet so that she could still do the flower toss at the reception. His is a wonderful keepsake that could be treasured for generations.

What a novel idea! It's unique and very pretty. I have a lot of my grand mother and mothers brooches. I never wear them so they are in a drawer just begging to be used. I think I will make this in two parts. The middle with flowers and the outer edge with the birches. That way I can toss the inner part!

This project uses a base of silk hydrangea flowers and the brooches are attached to,floral wire and inserted into the flowers then secured to the stems. It looks pretty sturdy but for the bride that does not want any hint of flowers, it may be hard to cover all the blossoms completely. The sewn sleeve is beautiful and I am wondering if the brooch base could be made out of a custom size huge pin cushion of sorts, that would be covered in lovely fabric, then stuffed with dense fiberfill or foam and easily insert the pins of the brooches into that. This is a gorgeous idea. Love it!
