Time to complete: In an evening

Estimated Cost: $11-$20

Materials:

  • A range of pumpkins in an assortment of sizes. We love the lighter hues, but if you are unable to find white pumpkins, they can be given a light coat of white spray paint to achieve the look
  • Chinese Lantern, sometimes called a Winter Cherry
  • Glitter
  • Gold leaf
  • Sequins
  • Gold fabric paint
  • PVA/ Glue
  • Spray paint
  • Fine paint brush
  • Ribbons & flowers to dress

Instructions:

  1. Coat half of your pumpkin in PVA and sprinkle generously with glitter.

  2. Take your second pumpkin & spray paint white.

  3. Using the gold fabric paint and a fine brush, dot the gold paint following the natural furrows in the pumpkin’s surface.

  4. Take your third pumpkin and grab a scattering of sequins and the glue.

  5. Coat both ends of your third pumpkin with PVA and roll in your gold sequins.

  6. Take the Chinese Lanterns, sheets of gold leaf and a small pot of glue.

  7. Dab PVA on your Chinese Lanterns. Gently brush on gold leaf and leave to dry.

  8. Create a small posy using your gold tipped Chinese Lanterns, winter foliage, and Autumnal hued blooms. Gather your pumpkins into a pile and surround with cream candles.

Such an elegant and gorgeous design! Anything with glitter gets my vote! This basic project could go with many other options to suit your decor and taste. Perhaps paint or keep some of the pumpkins the traditional color, or add little dew drops or golden metallic leaves and wire ribbon coiled within the design. Great instructions too, this is such a pretty decor item, to keep,or give as a gift!
